Back in the year 2012, actor Yami Gautam featured in a movie which broke all stereotypes. The movie we are talking about is Ayushmann Khurrana’s debut movie ‘Vicky Donor’ which was directed by Shoojit Sircar. The movie was produced by John Abraham and is about a guy who donates sperms to help other couples.
Yami Gautam, is now starring in the movie ‘Bhoot Police’ opposite Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor & Jacqueline Fernandez. She spoke about how she was just auditioning everywhere at that point in time and said it was important because she had no godfather backing her.
She said “That was a phase when I was auditioning in full swing. At that point of time, I also had the opportunity of a very conventional launch. I was absolutely on my own; every work that I was doing was my stepping stone. There was nobody there to back me.
Yami further revealed her & her parents’ reaction on reading the script of ‘Vicky Donor’. While Gautam was unsure, she received an unexpected response from her parents once they read the script of the film.
Yami had added:
When I auditioned for Vicky Donor, I asked the casting director, ‘What is the film about?’ And she just smiled. When I got the film, that is when I found out. I had to tell my parents. My father asked me what the film is about, and I just handed the script to him. When my parents read it, they said, ‘This is so cool’.
Vicky Donor was a great success at the box office and did really well. Yami has since then starred in a number of successful movie which include Kaabil, Badlapur, Uri: The Surgical Strike & Bala. Most recently, she was seen in the Netflix movie Ginny Weds Sunny alongside Vikrant Massey. Yami has turned 32 today and is having her first birthday under lockdown.
