We all are well aware of that part of Bollywood’s history when Amitabh Bachchan came back alive from the grasps of death. Yes, we’re talking about the infamous 1983 Coolie film shooting incident. Big B was so badly injured on the spot that he was declared ‘clinically dead’ by the doctors. We all are very well aware of how Amitabh Bachchan overcame everything, but how did Wife: Jaya Bachchan had reacted when she heard the news, is very little known.
Below are some excerpts from her reaction in her own words,
She wasn’t there at the hospital when doctors broke the news of Big B being clinically dead. In a F2F with Simi Garewal, Jaya talked in detail about all that happened. She said,
“When I had reached the hospital where my brother-in-law said, ‘Where were you, we were searching for you? We have been looking for you?’ And I said I went home to see kids.” (sic)
“Then he sort of took me up, he asked me to be brave and then I am going to tell you. I was like, no it’s not possible, he’s not going to do this. I know it’s not possible.” (sic)
Doctors Told Jaya That Only Her Prayers Can Rescue Big B
“I had the prayer book in my hand, Hanuman Chalisa. Dr Dastoor passed by and said, ‘It’s only your prayers that’ll help.’
But I couldn’t read it. I couldn’t see what they were doing but I could see that they were pumping his heart, they were giving him injections. And after they gave up, I saw his toe move, and I said, ‘He moved, he moved.'”
And the rest is history.
Coming back to the present, Amitabh Bachchan can give any actor tough competition when it comes to being a sport. Despite being Bollywood’s Shahenshah for quite a while now, Big B still has that fire for learning new things and never leaves an opportunity to learn things from his co-stars.
