2018 ended with a huge controversy, the one over Anupam Kher starrer ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ which is based on a book written by Sanjaya Baru with the same name talking about Manmohan Singh’s run as the PM. The movie soon got slapped with a legal case which is yet to be heard in court. Amidst this entire debacle, we have confirmed news that the Narendra Modi Biopic is on its way.
Yes, now that the former PM got a movie, why shouldn’t the present one get one? It has been raining biopics since the last few years in Bollywood. Some were image cleaners, some meant to inspire and some meant to just entertain but the good thing is that most of them fared really well. And the latest one to join the queue is our current PM’s biographical drama in which Vivek Oberoi has been roped in to play Narendra Modi and it is titled to be PM Narendra Modi.
Omung Kumar who has directed two biographies before, Mary Kom and Sarabjit would be helming this project after Bhoomi starring Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari. Taran Adarsh, a renowned Trade Analyst and a movie critic took to Twitter to make the announcement. The first look of the movie will be released very soon, on Monday, January 7, 2019 and the movie will go on floors in mid-Jan.
Here’s what he tweeted:
“IT’S OFFICIAL… Vivekanand Oberoi [Vivek Oberoi] to star in Narendra Modi biopic, titled #PMNarendraModi… Directed by Omung Kumar… Produced by Sandip Singh… First look poster will be launched on 7 Jan 2019… Filming starts mid-Jan 2019.”
Reportedly, the unveiling of the first poster of the film will be done by the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis at Garware Club House in South Mumbai. A source from the production said,
“Sandip Ssingh (producer) and Vivek came up with the idea of roping in the CM for the unveiling. When the makers approached him, he readily agreed. The event is scheduled to take place at the Garware Club House in South Mumbai. Apart from Vivek’s look, makers are also expected to announce the release date of the film.”
The film will be shot in Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand specifically and will release in 23 different languages. The source added,
“The team acquired the necessary permissions to go forth with the film only a few weeks ago. Vivek has been working on his distinct looks, and will be part of extensive workshops. A big chunk of the film will be shot in Gujarat, apart from other states.”
The movie is definitely expected to receive a similar kind of reaction that The Accidental Prime Minister trailer just did. But all of that is not of concern right now. Vivek Oberoi will be returning to the big screen after almost 6 years after Krrish 3 in 2013. He has been missing from the acting scene lately but his potential will succeed in pulling the audiences to the theatres along with the PM Modi’s own fanbase, provided he is given the appropriate look. Vivek is known for his roles in movies like Krrish 3, Omkara, Saathiya, Company, Shootout at Lokhandwala among others.
We just hope this movie doesn’t bring chaos along!
