Vishal Dadlani is one of the most loved Indian singer-composer who often has put out his disagreement and criticism to a lot of decisions the ruling government has made over the course of almost 5 years and this time too, he has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his lie.
On Wednesday, a Youth Conclave was held in Surat where PM Modi addressed thousands of young citizens of the country, citing the success of the nation under his rule and during that, he said, as reported by an ANI report,
“There used to be rapes in this country earlier too, it is a shame that we still hear about such cases. Now, culprits are hanged within 3 days, 7days, 11 days & a month. Steps are being taken continuously to get daughters justice & results are evident.”
Now, this statement claiming speedy trials of rape cases invited a lot of flak from the people on the internet and kicked up a storm on social media as well. Among many who attacked the Prime Minister for this false claim was Vishal Dadlani. He tweeted asking the man to reveal names of the people who have been hanged till death as a punishment for such a heinous crime. He tweeted:
“Lie. Name one rapist who has been hung in your term, Sir. Nirbhaya’s rapists, Asifa’s rapists, even Unnao child-rape-accused BJP MLA Sengar are still alive and well.”
“Narendra Modiji, we know elections are near, but don’t turn the pain of Indian women and girls into propaganda,” he further added to his tweet.
Vishal Dadlani has been active in pointing fingers at the BJP led government since the very beginning, some useful, some useless and has often fallen in controversies as well. He also in the early days, was a part of the Aam Aadmi Party but later resigned and quit after one of his tweets offended the religious sentiments of some. Though he chose to keep a safe distance from politics, he still is a staunch supporter of AAP.
Politically, he may not have been much successful but as an artist, as a musician, he enjoys a huge fandom. His partner in music, Shekhar Ravjiani and he together have produced amazing music for more than fifteen years. In one of his interviews last year, he talked about how his journey as a musician started. He said,
“I never knew I’d be a musician. It’s something that happened to me. I grew up surrounded by music, as both my parents love music dearly. No one in my family has ever been a musician though. That journey started by complete chance, when I was 19. I started learning to play a little guitar, and from there moved on to writing some basic songs. Then, Pentagram happened, and my life changed. Those guys taught me everything I know. We wrote music, recorded, toured the college circuit and had a really good time.”
Vishal Dadlani was last seen in a music reality TV show, Indian Idol Season 10 where he was one of the judges along with Neha Kakkar and Javed Ali.
Well, Dadlani may have tweeted some hilarious and illogical comments on BJP in the past but this time, he was bang on right. What do you think?
