Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar is one of the popular calendars of the showbiz and every year, a flurry of stars makes it to the shoot. This time too, many Bollywood actors from the industry featured in the 20th Dabboo Ratnani calendar from Farhan Akhtar, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, John Abraham, Tiger Shroff, Amitabh Bachchan to Kiara Advani, Kriti Sanon, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan, Shraddha Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and who not.
It has been two great decades since Dabboo Ratnani is clicking glam and glitzy celebs at their best and it was at the launch of his 2019 calendar that several A-Listers attended the event. Among those were Vidya Balan and Rekha. In spite of many Y-Gen actors’ presence, it was Rekha’s high ball energy and laughter which shown bright. She was seen posing and getting clicked with everyone who was attending the event.
When she was meeting all of the stars, she also greeted Vidya Balan as well in all her enthusiasm where the two were laughing about something. Just when they were done hugging and Rekha was moving in another direction, she happened to take Balan’s saree dupatta along with her. Vidya’s dupatta gets stuck in Rekha’s fingers, which was quite a hilarious moment, even for both of them who shrugged it in laughter.

In the video, we can see Vidya taking control of the situation like a boss and saving herself from a possible wardrobe malfunction. And then the two go on to pose for the paparazzi happily. Rekha and Vidya Balan share a great bond. In fact, the latter calls Rekha her idol whose elegant beauty, grace, acting prowess and the way she carries herself inspires her. By now, everyone knows how much she admires and respects the yesteryear actress and how they never leave a chance to get clicked together.
At award shows, Vidya has received ‘Best Actor – Female’ Award from Rekha several times which for her has always been an honor. The two have also been compared for making confident choices for the kind of roles they choose, for their vast and versatile body of work and also for the fact that they both love Kanjeevaram sarees and look exceptionally well in those.
Though the two haven’t shared screen space yet, Rekha did a cameo appearance and featured in a song ‘Kaisi Yeh Paheli’ in Vidya’s first movie, Parineeta starring Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan. The movie released in 2005 based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Bengali novel of the same name. The movie was a huge success and marked Vidya’s establishment in the Bollywood industry.
Vidya Balan was last seen in Tumhari Sulu directed by Suresh Triveni opposite Manav Kaul and Neha Dhupia. The IMDb synopsis of the movie reads:
“Sulu is an ambitious housewife with a loving husband and a happy family. Things start changing for her when she accidentally lands a job as a radio jockey and her show becomes an instant hit.”
