Last year was really great for the film industry and for the fans who crave for good cinema. We hope that Bollywood movies will continue to spread their magic this year as well. As many big movies are all set to release this year and fans just can’t wait for them. Here’s a list of upcoming Bollywood movies that are releasing in 2018:
Race 3 – 15th June (Released Already)
The Race franchise will continue its journey with the third installment coming out this year in June. The movie will have Bhai aka Salman Khan this time in its lead and Remo D’Souza will direct the film. Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, and Daisy Shah are also playing the lead roles in the movie.
Sanju – Sanjay Dutt Biopic – 29th June
‘Sanju’ is the upcoming movie that will portray the important life events of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir Kapoor is going to play Sanjay Dutt on screen. A few days ago, a look of Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt was leaked which caused a huge excitement among the fans and media.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi – 3rd August
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is an upcoming movie based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. National Award winning director Krish is directing the movie and the queen of Bollywood, Kangna Ranaut will play the lead role of Rani Laxmibai in the movie. Actor Sonu Sood, Atul Kulkarni and, Suresh Oberoi are also a part of the cast of the film.
Gold – 15th August
Gold is an upcoming Indian sports movie starring Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy in lead roles. The movie is based on the life of Hockey player Balbir Singh, who was one of the team member of the Indian Hockey Team who won the Olympic Gold in 1948. The movie will be directed by Reema Kagti.
Thugs of Hindostan –7th November
Thugs of Hindostan is an upcoming action-adventure movie based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug. The movie will feature Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles. It’s written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and will hit the theatres this Diwali.
Student of the Year 2– 23rd November
Student of the Year 2 is the upcoming movie which is a sequel to Student of the Year released in 2012. The movie will have Tiger Shroff and it will be directed by Punit Malhotra. Karan Johar will produce the movie. The female cast will be announced soon.
Total Dhamaal – 7th December
The Dhamal series will have its third installment coming out this year in December. Ajay Devgn will be joining the cast. Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi and Aashish Chaudhary are reprising their roles. The movie will be directed by Indra Kumar.
Zero – 21st December
This is an upcoming King Khan movie also featuring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles. The movie is one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies of the year. SRK will be trying yet another character this time. He is playing the character of a dwarf man who falls in love with a superstar (Katrina Kaif). Anushka Sharma is playing a role of a person with intellectual disability.
Simba – 28th December
Simba is an upcoming Ranveer Singh starer movie releasing at the end of the year. Rohit Shetty is directing the movie and the movie will be c-produced by Dharma Productions. The movie will star Ranveer Singh in a titular lead role along with actress Tamannaah.
2.0 –TBA (Postponed Again)
Yes, this is not a Bollywood movie but ‘2.0’ is probably the most awaited movie of the Indian Cinema right now. The movie is the sequel to S. Shankar’s 2010 film Enthiran. It’s the first Indian film which is completely shot in 3D and is the seventh most expensive non-English movie with a production budget of over $70 million (about 4.5 billion INR). The movie will feature Superstar Rajnikanth, Amy Jackson, and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles.
Dabangg 3 – TBA
The third installment of Dabangg series is also coming this year. But fans have to wait until the end of the year to see Salman Khan in action. Although the release date is not yet revealed, it seems like the movie will release around Christmas this year.
Padmavat –25th Jan (Released)
Earlier ‘Padmavati’, the movie was supposed to release in the fall of last year but couldn’t due to controversies claiming that the movie has some unacceptable scenes. But now the wait is over, and fans will finally see their favorite stars on the big screen this Republic Day. The movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor are playing the lead roles in the film.
Padman – 9th Feb (Released)
Padman is Akshay Kumar starer comedy drama movie directed by R.Balki. The movie is based on the book written by Twinkle Khanna named The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, which is based on the life of social activist Arunachal Muruganantham from Tamil Nadu who is responsible for creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. He is the person responsible for revolutionizing the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India. The movie also has Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The film is all set to hit the theatres this Republic Day.
Aiyaary – 16th Feb (Released)
Aiyaary is an upcoming Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starer movie which will show a unique relationship between a mentor and his protege. The movie is based on true events and will also feature popular South actress Rakul Preet Singh who is the female lead of the film. The movie is shot at various exotic locations including London, Delhi, Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru and the United States.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran –25th May (Released)
Parmanu is the upcoming movie directed by Abhishek Sharma which is based on the nuclear bomb test conducted by the Indian Army in 1998. The movie will feature John Abraham and Diana Penty in the lead roles along with Boman Irani, Divya Dutta, Pavan Malhotra, Shaad Randhawa, and Arjan Bajwa.
