 1.  Masaan

An exquisite movie directed by Neeraj Ghaywan deals with two narratives, which, at last, merge into one. It explores the complex emotions of love, death, and living with taboos. In the first narrative, we meet Richa Chadha’s character, and in the second, we meet Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi’s characters. Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra starrer Meri Pyaari Bindu is a roller coaster of emotions. The story is about two friends and their journey of life, love, and loss. It’s a beautiful movie that will fill your heart with love.

It’s the most realistic movie in Indian cinema. It shows the struggle of a young boy who got expelled from and school which and forces him to return to his abusive father. It got praised at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, where it got a standing ovation as well.

Anurag Kashyap’s film depicts the dark and unsettling story of a missing girl and how this incident leads to untangling human greed, desperation, repressed emotions, and much more. It’s an engaging movie with good characters and an ugly relationship between them.

Devashish Makhija’s Bhonsle is a commendable piece of art that talks about a retired cop who befriends a girl and her brother to help him to help get rid of the local politicians. It’s an overwhelming movie with exceptional characters and performances.

 6. City Lights

Rajkumar Rao starrer City Lights is a thought proving movie. Hansal Mehta’s film depicts the life of a labourer who comes to Bombay for survival but ends up finding distress and dark sides of the city of dreams.  It’s a heart-wrenching movie that has a soul of its own.
