For those who are unaware, Bollywood movie: ‘Kabir Singh’ was in the news, but not in a positive way, post its release due to the misogyny this film portrayed. There was a scene in the film where the lead actor Shahid Kapoor slaps Kiara Advani, which especially, became the talking point amongst those who saw the film.

Now when Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Thappad’ trailer has arrived, the media personalities who were able to catch a glimpse of it, termed it a tight slap to director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Kabir Singh’. Whilst Sandeep Reddy Vanga made attempts to justify ‘Kabir Singh’s slap, Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Thappad’ might just be a tight slap to his film.

If the poster of ‘Thappad’, made public by Taapsee earlier in the day, is anything to go by, then the movie is based on a woman standing up for physical abuse in a relationship. This very point appeared to be glorified in ‘Kabir Singh’, a film which was the Bollywood version of ‘Arjun Reddy’ featuring Vijay Deverakonda.

Taapsee Pannu who made her box office debut with Telugu film: Jhummandi Naadam has gained popularity for playing strong roles on the silver screen in the past few years. Some of her best performances were seen in films like Pink, Badla, Mulk, Manmarziyaan, Saand Ki Aankh and Mission Mangal.

Ever since 2018, Taapsee has been a regular in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100. She works primarily in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films.
