Taapsee Pannu upcoming film is Saand Ki Aankh where she will be sharing the frame with Bhumi Pednekar. The film is a biopic based on the lives of two octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro, 87, and Prakashi, 82, hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Johri village and reportedly took up sharpshooting in their 50s.
Chandro, who is popularly called by the name: shooter ‘dadi’ is among the world’s oldest female sharpshooters. Saand Ki Aankh is Tushar Hiranandani’s directorial debut.
In the years that have passed by, Bollywood has shown a lot of interest in making Biopics for the silver screen. It is like a biopic downpour. And much of this interest could be attributed to great box office successes that were received by Dangal, Sanju, MS Dhoni-The Untold Story.
While biopics on the lives of Saina Nehwal, Hawa Singh, and others are in the pipeline, making of another biopic has been declared in the official. It would be none other on the life of former Women Indian Cricket Team Captain: Mithali Raj. And Taapsee Pannu, who has delivered impressive performances in films like Pink, Badla, Manmarziyan and recently released Game Over will be portraying her.
While Taapsee has given a verbal nod to the do the role, she has yet to sign the contract. As per a Mumbai Mirror report, quoting a source close to the development,
“The formalities will be done once the studio has a director on board. They have also locked the story but the script is still being developed.”
The source also added that she will be subjected to rigorous training for her role.
“The film is expected to roll next year and Taapsee will undergo rigorous training in cricket as part of her prep.”
When it comes to the inspiration: Mithali Raj, she is the highest run-scorer in the ODI format and the first woman to cross the 6,000 run mark in the history of women cricket.
