The very moment the trailer of Hrithik Roshan’s much-awaited film, Super 30, went online, the film was highly praised by the netizens but on the other hand, it also earned criticism for ‘brown facing’ Hrithik Roshan, who plays a Patna-born math wiz Anand Kumar in the movie. While Hrithik hasn’t given any reaction to this criticism over the ‘face colour’ till date, his co-star Mrunal Thakur has come forward and addressed it in her recent interview.
During an interview to Mid-day, she said,
“I think it was required for the character. Whenever I saw Hrithik in his dark complexion, I would end up calling him Anand and not Hrithik. When people see the film, they will understand why it was necessary. In Love Sonia (2018), they [film makers] made me three to four shades darker, and it worked.”
When Mrunal was asked about her working experience with Hrithik Roshan, she shared,
“When we started filming for Super 30, people didn’t know about Love Sonia. So, everybody was treating me as a newcomer. Thankfully, Hrithik appreciated me all the time. That encouraged me to perform better.”
She further revealed that now she need not go for auditions to get projects, she gets calls directly from the film makers now. These are her exact words,
“Now, I don’t have to go for auditions. People call and tell me that they want to meet me for narrations. That never happened to me before.”
A Phantom Films, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Reliance Entertainment Banner Joint Production, Super 30 will hit the silver screens on coming July 12th. For those who are uninitiated, Super 30, is a movie inspired by the life of Anand Kumar who runs an entrance exams institute for underprivileged children, in the State of Bihar, India.
And what makes him stand apart from others is that despite lacking in resources his whole batch gets admission in the whatever entrance exam they appear.
