Student of the Year 2 promotions are in full swing as only a week is left for the movie’s release. The new students Tara Sutaria, Tiger Shroff, and Ananya Pandey are in the news for some or the other revelation then be it about Tiger not attending a real college, or Ananya admitting to finding Kartik Aaryan cute. Now, the third one has also spoken and it is about her could-have-been debut in the movies, that is, Aladdin.
The lead cast of the movie is currently on city tours and during one of their interactions with the media, they spilled a lot of beans. In a conversation with in.com, Tara Sutaria revealed to have auditioned for the much awaited upcoming Disney musical fantasy adventure, a live-action remake of a 1992 animated film of the same name. She said that before Student of the Year 2, she would have appeared in Aladdin as Jasmine, had things worked out well for her.
Interestingly, Aladdin stars insanely popular Hollywood actor Will Smith as Genie and Tara got to work with him in Student of the Year 2, in which he will appear for a cameo in a song. The filmmakers had revealed that fact earlier to get on the hype and sure did work. Here’s what she exactly said,
“I was actually supposed to do another film with Will Smith a year before we started Student of the Year 2 in London. I was working on this film Aladdin, which is, in fact, releasing a week after SOTY. So, I was meant to play Jasmine in that film. We would have worked together on that film and it is so ironic that I didn’t end up doing that film but I am doing this and he actually came here and we ended up working on this.”
Aladdin is an upcoming American live-action film based on the story of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. We believe Tara would have looked perfect as Jasmine on the big screen but now that role will be played by Naomi Scott. Since Tara wouldn’t be seen as Jasmine, here’s her audition clip for the role for you. Have a look:
Well, one way or the other, Tara got to work with the legendary superstar in her debut film. Will Smith apparently too shot for The Jawaani Song in the film, which is out but sans Smith. Definitely, the makers have kept it for the movie. This will be Will Smith’s debut Bollywood film and his fans in India are super excited to see him with Bollywood stars soon.
The movie is directed by Punit Malhotra and is produced by Karan Johar under his home production banner Dharma Productions. The movie is all set to hit the theatres next week, on May 10.
Meanwhile, the DisneyWiki synopsis of Aladdin reads:
When a street urchin finds a lamp with a genie inside, he uses the lamp to turn himself into a prince in order to win the heart of a beautiful princess. But an evil vizier is after the lamp too.
