Mukesh Khanna mocked ‘Shaktimaan‘ sequel after fans demanded a re-run of the original version amidst the ongoing 3-week nationwide coronavirus lockdown. An announcement regarding a 3D animated series on Shaktimaan has also been made. Its trailer was launched at Comic-Con India in 2019.
The countrywide lockdown to deal with novel coronavirus brought a little good news for fans of television from the 80s and 90s with shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Byomkesh Bakshi, and Circus making a return on television and now fans have requested the re-run of Shaktimaan, featuring Mukesh Khanna as India’s most popular superhero.
Now, with the demand to bring the show making a comeback on television at an all-time high, the actor has revealed that a sequel to the show is in the works. For the uninitiated, Mukesh not only played the titular role in Shaktimaan but also co-created it.
In a recent media interaction, Mukesh spoke about the same and said,
“For the last three years, we have been working towards bringing out the second edition of Shaktimaan, which is contemporary but rooted in our values. We were working on the sequel because people wanted to know, aage kya hua (what had happened).”
Our Shaktimaan also added,
“I feel whenever we return to work after this crisis, I will be in a better position to bring out the second part because the demand for it is higher than ever before,” he further added. Before this, Mukesh in the past had also expressed his desire to make a film on the superhero. “I wanted to make a full-fledged feature film on Shaktimaan, but had to make do with a telefilm when the finances for it didn’t work out as planned.”
Talking about Mukesh Khanna’s memorable performances. He played the titular role of Ganga Putra: Bhishma or Devavrata in B.R Chopra’s: Mahabharata that is being rerun on Doordarshan now. If Shaktimaan is rerun on Doordarshan during this lockdown, then maybe Mukesh Khanna will be the only artist to feature in more than one shows that are being rerun during this lockdown.
