Shahid Kapoor’s Cricketer Look Confirms His Presence In ‘Jersey’ Remake For Hindi Speaking Audience

As we all were expecting after the tremendous success of Kabir Singh, a Hindi version of Telugu movie Arjun Reddy (2017). Shahid Kapoor is now on to play the male lead in Jersey, again a Hindi version of a South Indian movie that had Nani playing the male lead. The rumors that Karan Johar would be a part of the project were just rumors, this too has been confirmed. Karan Johar issued a statement himself in this regard.

After Shahid’s blockbuster Kabir Singh, there were speculations over his next project. Despite Shahid refraining from making any public announcement, reports suggested that he will be working in the remake of South Indian film Jersey.

These reports turned out to be true.

An official statement made by Jersey’s PRO stated that the movie will once again be directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri and co-produced by the Trio: Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, and Dil Raju. This statement was supported by the release of Shahid’s 1st look from the film.

In the released look, Shahid Kapoor could be seen sporting a white jersey, holding the bat to his shoulder while a headband is tied over his hair. He is donning a stubble too.

Talking about its box office release date, the yet-untitled remake of Nani’s Jersey is slated for a 28th August 2020 release. Unsurprisingly, Shahid’s previous flick Kabir Singh too was a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, which featured Vijay Deverakonda in the male lead. Both versions of Arjun Reddy were helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Talking about Shahid’s other projects, Kabir Singh was his last box office appearance. It did a business of more than 200 Crore INR. This flick catapulted Shahid’s confidence to such a level, that he increased his asking fees per project to 35 Crore INR making him one of the highest-paid actors of Bollywood.

In other words, one can say, Kabir Singh turned out to be a turning point film in his career.
