The fans, the actors, the critics, now everyone is waiting eagerly for the release of the much-anticipated movie of the year, Zero. The team is on a high since its music and trailer both have been received very well. The promotions are going great, the movie has a stellar star cast with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles; Anand L. Rai, a promising director is has directed the movie, all in all, everything looks superb. But what if in spite of all this, the movie fails?
That is every actor, every director’s nightmare. When you work so hard on a film and it fails, just the thought of it makes one nervous. Shah Rukh Khan has been taking up scripts with fresh plots and everything but his few previous movies haven’t fared very well at the box office like Raees, Fan, Jab Harry Met Sejal among others. Though he seems quite confident about this one, the thought still crops one in one’s mind as to what if it fails?
In an interview with Hindustan Times, SRK talked about his upcoming romantic-drama and how would the movie Box Office failure affect him. He said,
“See, I can’t change that, and if I can’t change something, why should I think about it? If people feel that Zero is very important for me, it’s their feeling. God forbid, if this film doesn’t work, what will happen? Maybe, I won’t get work for six months or 10 months. But if I believe that my craft and art is good, I will continue to get work.”
He further added,
“Then I will probably make a comeback which I have been doing for the last 15 years, or maybe, the comeback won’t happen. The trade world has a point of view about a film’s business, and they are right from their viewpoint. Main dekhta hoon ki is film ki story kya hai, aur is mein nayapan kya hai. That’s more important to me.”
The movies these days work primarily on content. Where big budget movies with megastars like Thugs of Hindostan become a critical and a box office dud, movies like Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun fare very well both in terms of money and critical appreciation. Though the Khans still offer huge movie openings even to date which hasn’t yet been beaten, this influx of new age drama and actors have sure made a spot for themselves in an otherwise not so welcoming industry.
Apart from all this, Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero looks extremely new, plot-wise and that is why we hope Shah Rukh Khan this time breaks all the box office records with this one. He will be seen in the role of Bauua Singh, a vertically challenged quirky man who apparently does not know what hesitation means. Katrina Kaif will be pulling off the character of an actress who is dealing with alcohol addiction and Anushka Sharma will be seen playing a scientist suffering from cerebral palsy.
The movie will also see cameos from stars like Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, late Sridevi, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Abhay Deol, and R Madhavan, among others. Zero is slated to hit the theatres very soon on December 21.
