King Khan a.k.a. Shah Rukh Khan has completed 28 years in the entertainment industry. He is one of those individuals who became their own ‘Godfather’ with their struggles and what’s more appreciating is that there was no one to grant him a favor. No one in his family tree has anything to do with the entertainment industry.
After SRK went deep inside the acting side of the entertainment industry, he went on to explore himself as an experimental actor and paved the way for actresses like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma in Bollywood and helped them stand in the industry. SRK gave many actresses their debut launch. Shah Rukh Khan is now a global name thanks to his 28 years and continuing tenure in the entertainment industry.
He is still exploring himself. His way of making money is not limited to just the entertainment industry.
Something About SRK’s Filmography
1. Bollywood Debut With ‘Deewana’
SRK played a psychotic lover in his first Bollywood flick, while an already established superstar (mind you, legendary Raj Kapoor’s son and the man who is Bollywood himself, Prithviraj Kapoor’s grandson) Rishi Kapoor featured opposite him, one would simply have to be crazy enough to think that he could pull off his debut role with ‘Deewana’. Shah Rukh was crazy enough not only to think that he could pull off the role but did, leaving a mark right from his debut film back in 1992. He also landed the Filmfare award right in his debut film.
2. Leaving A Mark With ‘Darr‘
Ever since he entered the film industry, Shah Rukh’s journey involved switching between dark, intense roles like ‘Darr’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Anjaam’ and lighter, loveable roles like ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Duplicate’. 1993-1994 was quite an era for Shah Rukh, as the actor gave the box audience back-to-back memorable flicks in the order – ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Anjaam’ and ‘Karan Arjun’.
3. Interesting Thing To Know
Not a single actor was ready to work in ‘Darr’ because of the extremely dark & psychotic character. But Shah Rukh Khan saw an opportunity and stood up to the challenge and it is now one of his iconic roles in Bollywood today. Interestingly, Sunny Deol, who much like Rishi Kapoor was also an established actor by then (also a product of nepotism), was upset after a newbie Shah Rukh Khan got all the limelight in the movie.
Sushmita Sen a.k.a. Aarya said it right, nepotism won’t help if you do not deliver it right.
