Section 375 Trailer Pitches Lawyers: Akshaye Khanna-Richa Chadha Against Each Other

After the captivating teaser, the makers of ‘Section 375’ have now dropped the official trailer of the movie. Starring Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha who are pitched against each other, this courtroom drama focuses on Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with rape.

The trailer begins with a rape survivor narrating her ordeal to the cops. The scene then brings in light the courtroom where Richa Chadha is playing a tough public prosecutor in her attempts to get justice for the survivor. Pitted against her is the defense lawyer, Akshaye Khanna.

The most hard-hitting line appears at the end of the video where Khanna’s character says,

“This case is a classic example of a woman, using as a weapon, the very law that was made to protect her.”

Just a few while back, Richa shared with TOI how she prepared for the role. These were her words,

“I want to stay in the zone of my character. We did a massive portion of courtroom sequences which needed me to stay focused, as it needed for me to be in the element and be in the character which was high on emotions. Shooting for courtroom scenes needs a lot of channelling of emotions and thus, my life was all about going to the sets and back home.”

Helmed by Ajay Bahl, ‘Section 375’ is a Panorama Studios production and presented by T-Series. A production venture of Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. It is co-produced by Aditya Choksi and Sanjeev Joshi. And you will get to see it in your nearby screens on September 13, 2019.

This is not the first Bollywood flick that has taken its inspiration from the provisions of Indian Constitution and put it up for discussion in the public domain. Just a while back, Article 15, helmed by Anubhav Sinha came, where Ayushmann Khurana was the male lead.

And Article 370 is also expected to arrive anytime late next year.
