Sara Ali Khan is the child of a Hindu mother: Amrita Singh and Muslim father: Saif Ali Khan. Her parents had a love marriage and are now mutually separated with Saif Ali Khan married to another Hindu actress: Kareena Kapoor. Sara herself is rumored to be dating a Hindu Actor: Kartitk Aaryan. She admitted a crush on him in public while she was on Koffee With Karan.
Just recently came the time for welcoming Ganpati Bappa into our homes i.e. Ganesh Chaturthi and as everyone knows in Bollywood all festivals are celebrated irrespective of one’s religion. So, Sara like other Bollywood celebrities took to her Instagram, in order to wish her fans. She did this by sharing a pic of hers seeking blessings from Lord Ganesha.
She captioned this pic with words, “Ganpati Bappa Morya!! May Ganesh Ji remove all your obstacles, and fill your year with laughter, positivity and success. #happyganeshchaturthi”

But all this happiness of hers couldn’t be digested by fundamentalists. As she had to face an unpleasant situation. As soon as she shared her happiness on social media, she was subjected to questioning for worshiping a stone statue and some even commented ‘Allah is the only God’.
This isn’t the first time that social media has been used by fundamentalists to ruin the moments of celebrity happiness. Very recently, former Bengali actress & current TMC MP from West Bengal Nusrat Jahan was subjected to criticism for celebrating Durga Puja. Nusrat, who was born a Muslim, is married to Hindu businessman Nikhil Jain.
Indian Cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Irfan Pathan too met the same fate when they celebrated Christmas and wishing Raksha Bandhan respectively.
While such kinds of ill-minded incidents will do nothing to deter people from celebrating festivals belonging to other religions. But yes one thing it will do, it will deter people from sharing their private life in public, especially when it comes to celebs.
