Sara Ali Khan has been the talk of the town ever since she made her debut on Koffee With Karan last year before her Bollywood debut with Kedarnath in December 2018. She appeared with her father Saif Ali Khan on the show and made half of India her fan. Her presence of mind, maturity, honesty, funk, everything just made for a great personality.
On the show, she also mentioned a bit about her struggles with weight loss as a kid which by the way never were a hindrance in her self-confidence. Kudos to that, first of all, but as she always knew about her career plan which was acting, she had to lose weight and get into the disciplined lifestyle, which definitely was not easy for her.
She weighed for about 90 kgs before her inspiring transformation. In a recent interview with BBC, she opened up about her battle with her body weight and PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disorder). She said,
“I went to Columbia for four years and at the end of the second year, I decided that I really want to act, like I said I have always known, but that realisation coincided with the weigh scale saying that I’m 96 kilos. So, it was a bit difficult. Then it was the senior year of college in America itself that I lost the weight.”
Owing to her honesty, she also admitted to being a bit delusional as a college child and added,
“I was a regular kid. It made it very hard for me to a. lose weight and b. the hormone level was very high. So, as you can see, there is a level of delusion that was in me…I was confident, I was delusional.”
But now, everyone can see her epic weight transformation, her fat to fit story which has, for sure made her way healthy than she was before. She talked about how her food preferences changed and how gymming came in for her rescue. She further added,
“Jahaan aapko pizza milta hain, wahin aapko protein milta hain. Jahaan pe chocolate milta hain, wahin aapko salad milta hain (On one hand you could eat a pizza and on the other you could have protein, on one hand you could get chocolate and on the other you could eat salad). That was it. So, I lost all the weight that I had gained there and lots more by working out and maintaining a disciplined life,”
She also has been practicing yoga, pilates, Kathak and has added intense workouts to her fitness regime which all are helping her stay in shape. On the work front, Sara has a couple of projects lined up. Currently, she is shooting for Imtiaz Ali directorial, a sequel to a superhit Love Aaj Kal, tentatively titled Aaj Kal with Kartik Aaryan and Randeep Hooda. Then she would also be seen with Varun Dhawan in Cooli No. 1 remake, directed by the latter’s father David Dhawan.
