Shahrukh Khan fans were quick in their response to criticize Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh when she called Shahrukh “Uncle” in a recently held Award show. It seemed to be a strongly placed idea in their minds, that they are still not ready to give up Shahrukh as the Bollywood Actor who has aged in real life, off-course off-screen, no matter he is past fifty i.e. 53 years now.
It is a very well established fact that the superstardom the three Khans (Salman, Shahrukh, and Aamir Khan) of Bollywood carry is irreplaceable. Shah Rukh Khan who is so much widely loved by all his fans across the world that the sensitive fans cannot take a single word against their superstar and get easily hurt when even a finger is laid on him.
The recent example of the same was when Sara Ali Khan addressed Shah Rukh Khan as uncle at a recently held awards show. This happened in contrast to the event when Shah Rukh Khan introduced Sara Ali Khan among the many newcomers in the Hindi film industry.
As soon as videos of Sara Ali Khan calling Shah Rukh Khan ‘uncle’ went live, fans went on outrage and pointed out that she could not call such a handsome man ‘uncle’. One user even went on to tell Sara that she could call him uncle in their personal meetings but not on a public platform.
On one hand, it is a good practice that age doesn’t matter against one’s talent and capabilities when it comes to the film industry. But on the other hand, this incident, reminds one of Vidya Balan’s 2011 Bollywood movie, The Dirty Picture, where this issue was raised in a strong way, that when it comes to male talent, age is an irrelevant number in their casting as male lead, but on the other hand, female talent is dealt with strong indifference.
Here are some of the tweets:
Sara Ali Khan called SRK uncle at Filmfare and people are trolling her. What do you expect a 23 YO to call a 50 plus man who is in real life, older than her father? Stupid fans need to accept their hero has aged enough to be called uncle.

Will people be okay if someone outside the industry, who is not a star kid does the same? Some banners might even ban the person to be in good books of SRK. She could call him uncle when it's a personal meet owing to her knowing him from childhood. It's a professional platform.

11 years back when Sarah was 12 Shahrukh was hosting the Filmfare awards ceremony with her father Saif. How does one think she'd have addressed (greeted) Shahrukh then? What's changed since then? 🤔

SRK very much calls him Amit uncle and Jaya as Jaya aunty. So do Adi Chopra and Karan Johar.
Your icon is 50 plus. Obviously he is uncle

We suggest Sara that she should reply to the ones who are criticizing her by asking if female Bollywood Bigwigs belonging to Shahrukh’s age group will be addressed as aunties then would they be critical of the addressal in the same way as they are in the Shahrukh’s case?
