Taking an aim at Priyanka Chopra for dumping Bharat, Salman Khan said, she did what she wanted and Kat got what she deserved. Ali Abbas Zafar‘s Bharat was the to-be project that aimed to reunite Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra on-screen after a long while. But PCJ had some other thoughts and she chose to get married to her beau Nick Jonas over doing the film and quit the project at the last minute. But undeterred with the circumstances, the filmmakers decided to go ahead with the making of Bharat. And Priyanka was immediately replaced by Katrina Kaif to play the leading lady in the film.
During a recent media interaction, Salman called Priyanka’s last-minute exit from the film ’embarrassing’. When he was queried whether Priyanka was wrongly cast for the film in the beginning. He said,
“No, not a wrong cast. But initially, Priyanka was very keen to do this film. Ali (director Ali Abbas Zafar) and we all thought it was Katrina Kaif’s film. But Katrina and I did Tiger Zinda Hai just before that and Ali said that we need a girl who is ‘Hindustani’.”
On his comments calling PCJ’s last minute exit as embarrassing, Salman shared,
“I tried telling him, ‘Why can’t she (Katrina) pull off this role? She has been living in India for the last 20 years.’ But then Ali said, ‘Priyanka ka phone aaya tha (we got a call from Priyanka)’ and it is also true that Priyanka and my sister Arpita Khan are good friends. “After all this, the ‘Nick story’ happened, the embarrassing thing happened and she chose to get married.”
As Salman always says something good for everyone for even those who are at odds with him, he told, Priyanka is a hard-working actress, who efficiently maintains her career in Bollywood as well as in the American entertainment industry. He also said that it takes guts to leave one of the biggest films of her career to get married.
