Saif Ali Khan starrer Go Goa Gone, released in May 2013 was a knee slapper, filled with witticism which came as a breath of fresh air to the audiences, for the genre itself, zom-com was introduced with the film. Along with the plot, quipped songs like Babaji ki Booti, Khooni Monday topped the chartbuster lists. Moreover, it was the youth which resonated with the movie. After the movie’s immense success at the box office, the makers are definitely planning a Go Goa Gone sequel which I’m sure, the viewers too are waiting for.
Raj, one of the directors of the film, in a conversation with Deccan Chronicle revealed their plans for the sequel. He revealed that they’re possibly looking at 2020 for the movie to begin shooting. He said,
“Go Goa Gone is not on the plate for this year. So, probably we are looking at 2020.”
It has been close to six years since the first one came out. When asked what has been taking so long, why is it being delayed, the director said,
“There are a lot of logistical factors. There are several actors and partners involved. So, logistically it takes time for these films to go on floors. If a film is solely in my hand, I would put it out as fast as I can,”
Summing up the conversation when he was asked about the cast and whether all of the last movie’s stars will make it to the sequel, he revealed that he would love to have all of them in the movie as they’ve all loved the script as well but it all depends on the actors’ availability and logistics. He added,
“Ideally, I would love to have everybody in the sequel as well. I have met all the actors and they all loved the story and they all want to do it. It is just a matter of logistics. I would like to shoot in Goa but there is an element in the story for which we might look elsewhere also. So, I can’t give out much right now,”
As per reports, the filmmakers may introduce creatures from other planets as well. Either that’d be interesting to see or it may fall flat, don’t you think? Go Goa Gone stars Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Anand Tiwari, Vir Das, and Puja Gupta. Directed by Raj and D.K., the movie went on to collect $5.3 million worldwide against a budget of $2.6 million. Earlier the makers were planning with making a crime comedy film but they zeroed on a new genre, zombie comedy.
Here’s the IMDb synopsis of the first movie, Go Goa Gone:
