Netflix has dropped a new Sacred Games Season 2 teaser, revealing the cast of the upcoming season and we are pretty sure that it’ll leave you wanting for more.
The first season released last year, sometime in July and the makers had then only announced the incoming of the second season. Redefining content, this Netflix original has taken it up a notch this time. The official Netflix India account just posted a 26-second teaser revealing the new characters and boy, you’d want to watch the new episodes right away. The two new faces are Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey who join in the previous cast Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Pankaj Tripathi. Before we talk about it further, watch the teaser first:
Reportedly, Kalki Koechlin will play a character named Batya and Ranvir Shorey will play Shahid Khan in the web series. Kalki who is often playing parts in Anurag Kashyap’s directorials called herself a fan of this insanely popular series and said,
“Personally, I am a fan of the series, and it is super awesome to be a part of the Sacred Games and Netflix family. Season 2 promises to be much more exciting and I cannot wait for viewers to watch me in the series. ”
Ranvir Shorey too added,
“The digital platform is so empowering and working on this audience-favourite show has been an absolute delight! My character in Sacred Games 2, Shahid Khan, is a complete departure from any of the roles I’ve played before, and I’m looking forward to fans across the world bingeing on the new season.’’
Netflix has always been huge in the west, and more so with the concept of “Netflix and Chill” but in India, it came down only a couple years ago among competitors like Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar and others which were way cheaper. Bringing Indian original content on Netflix worked majorly for the audience and what better than bringing Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, and Saif Ali Khan together. Sacred Games did what I believe no other show could have done. It actually bound the two segments of the society beautifully, the Nawaz audience (which is getting bigger with each passing day) and the Saif audience.
Where we have seen Nawaz play such kind of dark and grim characters and want to see more of it every time he acts, it was new for Saif to have stepped in this real space, so to say, from those dreamy dance sequences and hunky dory romcoms. He was exploring the web space, and with him, we as an audience were being wary of his great acting which fit perfectly in line with the stalwarts of the genre Radhika and Nawaz. Radhika’s character died in the last season but with the cast getting even more exciting, it promises to be one hell of a ride.
The series is based on Vikram Chandra’s bestseller novel of the same name and is jointly directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. Though no official release date has been announced, keep looking for this space to stay updated.
