Speculations about Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan coming together for the third installment of the Don franchise have been rife for the longest time. Every time Farhan makes a public appearance, he is confronted with one question both by the media as well as the fans, when is Don 3 happening?
While a few reports had suggested in the past that Farhan Akhtar is working on the script for Don 3. In the recent past, several reports surfaced saying that SRK is likely to be replaced by Ranveer Singh and Farhan’s sister Zoya Akhtar may don the director’s hat for Don 3. But both the brother-sister duo had rubbished the rumors earlier this year.
If the recent reports are to be believed, then Farhan is apparently planning to rope in Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist in the much anticipated Don 3. While both the filmmaker and the actor have not issued any public confirmation regarding the same, multiple reports doing the rounds suggest that Ranbir is likely to replace Shah Rukh in the 3rd installment of the much loved Don franchise, the first two parts both of which were written, directed and produced all by Farhan himself.
After Shah Rukh’s home project Zero had a nose dive at the box-office, he has not announced any new projects yet. As mentioned above, recent reports suggest that SRK may collaborate with Rajkumar Hirani for a film which is to be produced by Shah Rukh’s production house Red Chillies and will be directed by Hirani. As of now, Shah Rukh is busy shooting for the second season of his show ‘Ted Talks’ while Ranbir is busy filming some of the final portions of Brahmastra in Varanasi.
