Ranveer Singh Deepika Padukone Kapil Dev Biopic

Kapil Dev apparently got the first World Cup home in 1983 and that is what the movie will be mostly about. Ranveer Singh was earlier roped in to play Kapil Dev and now, it has been reported that Deepika Padukone has been approached by the filmmakers to play his wife, Romi Bhatia. The filmmakers have assured her that her role will not take more than 7 days to shoot. Deepika is yet to decide.

A source regarding this was reported as saying,

“Her role requires just seven days of shooting. The film-makers believe the part where Romi Bhatia left the stadium mid-way assuming that West Indies will win the 1983 World Cup final, and the difficulties she encountered in coming back into the stadium when India was on the verge of winning, can be well emoted by Deepika.”

Deepika’s role in the movie will not be a full-fledged lead role but she will feature in a cameo appearance. But this cameo would be meaty enough to leave an impact as it will be full of emotions and drama. The movie will be helmed by the Bajrangi Bhaijaan director, Kabir Khan and we already feel it’s going to be amazing. Roping in the talk of the town duo, for the first appearance onscreen post their marriage can work in favour of the film in great measures.

Recently, Ranveer in an interview was talking about the enormous success of Simmba, also shared how he wants to do a film with her soon but they don’t have any offers at hand right now. Deepika too, in an interview to an entertainment portal while talking about Ranveer said that she would like to do an urban setting film with him where they are having fun as they have just featured in intense and extremely passionately romantic movies so far, two of them being period dramas.

Kapil Dev’s biopic may not be exactly what they want but it is a great movie to be a part of. Deepika hasn’t confirmed anything as such but we hope she does sign the dotted line. On the work front, Deepika will be seen next in Meghna Gulzar’s Chapaak, a movie about the life of India’s most inspiring Acid Attack survivor, Laxmi. And Ranveer will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy based on the life of Divine and Naezy, underground rappers from Mumbai. The trailer of the movie released yesterday. You can watch it here.
