Ranveer Singh Couldn’t Control His Tears During ‘83 Shoot. Here’s Why!

We all know that Ranveer Singh is playing Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan directed Kapil Dev Biopic i.e. ‘83. There was an instant during the climax scene of ‘83 where Ranveer was barely able to hold of his tears and all that was for a very special reason.

Talking about ‘83, it tells us the story of the Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup win and then captains Kapil Dev’s contribution towards that. ‘83 would be 1st ever Kapil Dev biopic and it would also be Ranveer and Deepika’s first box office outing together after getting married last year in an offshore ceremony.

Coming back to Ranveer breaking down in tears. All that happened when he came to know that he had received the exact same World Cup trophy which Kapil Dev was honored with back in 1983 in Lords Cricket Ground, London. Ranveer who was overwhelmed with this gesture broke down in tears as per the words of Kabir Khan in an F2F with Mumbai Mirror.

Kabir Khan revealed,

“We shot for five days at the Lord’s stadium in London, entering the members only Long Room where no camera ventured before, the dressing rooms and locker rooms, and then (we) stepped out onto the balcony where the World Cup was presented to Kapil sir. And guess what? They brought out the real World Cup for Ranveer too. Overwhelmed, he broke down when I shouted ‘Cut’.”

He had more to say,

“Among those on the balcony was also Clive Lloyd’s son who, like Gordan Greenidge and Malcolm Marshall’s sons, is playing his father in the film. We had legends like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Vivian Richards dropping by. That day, Clive Lloyd, captain of the ’83 West Indian team which had crashed to 140 all out to give us an unlikely win, was there to support his son. When we urged him to come closer, he quipped that he didn’t want to see the Cup being given away for the second time in his life.”

Apart from Ranveer & Deepika, 83 also stars Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar & Chirag Patil in pivotal roles.
