After the two disappointing attempts with ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’, the superstar Rajinikanth has come back on track with the mind-boggling success of his new science-fiction thriller film, Robot 2.0. The film, which is directed by Shankar Shanmugam released to a bouncy reception worldwide, everyone including Rajini fans and critics collectively termed the film as a cinematic marvel. The magnum opus of 450 crores gave Rajini the career-best opening ever in the Telugu states with a business of estimated INR 12.53 crore on an opening day.
After the magnificent success of Robot 2.0, the superstar Rajinikanth is all set to repeat all that again with his upcoming action-drama Telugu film Petta to show his Thalaivar avatar. The film Petta is ready to smash the theaters on this coming Pongal that is, 10th January 2019.
Some initial reports suggested, that the film release would be postponed in Telugu due to rigid competition from NTR Biopic and VVR, which are also set to release on 10th January but the makers of the film announced the final date of the release of Petta is finalized as 10th January same as in Tamil.
The teaser that released 2 weeks earlier, is already telling that the film will be high on commercial ingredients and the official trailer is expected to release shortly. During the audio launch event of the film, Rajini said that the film Petta is going to be an entertaining throwback to his kinda films of the 90s era.
The film, which is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the production banners of Sun Pictures, stars an ensemble cast that includes Simran, Trisha, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash, Nawasuddin Siddiqui, and Vijay S along with Rajinikanth in the lead roles.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is making his Tamil debut with Karthik Subbaraj’s directorial Petta, opposite to superstar Rajinikanth. In a recent interview, Siddiqui spoke about teaming up with the superstar.
“Rajinikanth is amazing actually. I always desired to work with him and I’m one of the few fortunate ones who got that wish fulfilled.”
He further added to his statement,
“I think he is the biggest superstar in the country. In fact, the craze and madness that his fans have are incomparable for any star in the world. Very few are blessed with the kind of fan following that he has. Rajini sir’s fan base is not just across the nation but everywhere in the world. What amazes me about him is that he is so simple even after having such a big fan base. When I first met him in the vanity van, I was shocked to see how simple he is. He makes you feel like he is like you.”
The Manto actor also confesses about how difficult it was for him to speak the dialogues in Tamil. He said
“I have a tutor to teach me the Tamil dialogues for Petta. It is difficult as it is not my language. Gujarati and Marathi are akin to Hindi in certain ways, but Tamil isn’t. It is tough. “
