Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 released in theatres worldwide today except in Pakistan where it was waiting for clearance. But now reports have claimed that the Enthiran sequel has finally gotten a clearance from Pakistan Central Board of Film Certification.
All members of the board were present at the meeting along with the Sindh Film Censor Board and Punjab Film Sensor Board. Apparently, none of them seem to have an objection regarding the release. On Tuesday, A CBFC official said,
“All members came to a unanimous decision regarding the release of 2.0. We agreed on a universal rating for the film as we did not find anything objectionable within the content and everything was in line with our policy. Therefore, all distributors are free to release the film without any cuts.”
And so, the Pakistan audience will enjoy the movie without any cuts. 2.0 in Pakistan will release on 30th November and a Pakistan English newspaper, Dawn announced bookings of advance movie tickets. The movie got an amazing response from the viewers and just like in South India; most of the shows are already housefull prior to its release. 2.0 will be shown in 75 theatres across Pakistan and that is a good number of screens.
Though Rajini sir already enjoys a huge fanbase in the neighbouring country, it is reported that Akshay Kumar helped the makers of the film to release the movie in Pakistan. Rajinikanth’s previous movies Kaala and Kabaali also catered to a large audience in Pakistan but it was ordered to undergo about 17 cuts including a scene where India beats Pakistan in a cricket match. But now, finally, 2.0 has got clearance without any cuts.
Earlier, in an interview, the movie’s director, S. Shankar revealed that Akshay Kumar wasn’t the first choice to play the villain in the movie; it was the Hollywood terminator, Arnold Schwarzenneger. He said,
“We had thought of casting Arnold. We had talked and allotted dates also. But somehow things did not work out as the contracts of Hollywood and India are contradictory. So we thought of looking at a good cast from the Indian film industry.”
And that’s how Akshay Kumar came into the picture. Akshay Kumar will be sharing screen space with the South Indian megastar Rajinikanth for the first time and this has got both Bollywood and Tollywood fans really excited. On working with Rajinikanth, Akshay said,
“Once, we were just sitting on the set, waiting for the next shot and he brushed some dirt off his pants. The entire unit was awestruck by how stylishly he did it. Everything he does is so stylish. I even enjoyed getting punched by him.”
Rajinikanth’s super stardom is not unknown to any and Akshay Kumar also happens to be one of his fans. This was one of the reasons why he agreed to do the film. Akshay Kumar would be playing a bird-man scientist named Dr. Richard in the movie and Rajinikanth would be reprising his role as Dr. Vaseegaran and his robot, Chitti. The film also features Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and Amy Jackson in major roles. The movie has opened on theatres and is enjoying a great response from the viewers.
