R Madhavan is a prominent actor in the Indian film industry. He has received four Filmfare Awards and an award from the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards along with recognition and nominations from other organizations. Madhavan started out with television serial Banegi apni baat in 1996. He went on to feature in many advertisements and serials. He got his first break with the Tamil movie Alaipayuthey in 200o.

Mid 2000 saw him vigorously pursue a career in Bollywood. He made debut in Bollywood as lead actor from the movie ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ alongside Saif Ali Khan and Dia Mirza which was directed by Gautham Menon. 2006 saw the release of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti (2006), Mani Ratnam’s biopic Guru (2007) and Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots (2009), which went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time upon release. Saala Khadoos, Tanu weds Manu and many other movies have established R Madhavan as a versatile actor. He has also gone back to serials with Breathe.

  • is a Bollywood biographical-drama, which has been directed by Ananth Mahadevan. The movie is based on the life of veteran ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation who was accused of espionage. The film will be shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and English. Slated for release in 2019 the movie is expected to do well.

  • is a Bollywood upcoming comedy-horror, directed by Raghava Lawrence. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Kiara Advani, Tushar Kapoor, R. Madhavan and Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead roles. It is a remake of 2011 Tamil Film Muni 2 aka Kanchana. The film is slated for release in June 2020.

R Madhavan has a pan-Indian appeal.
