SOTY 2 actress Ananya Panday, who was last seen in the film ‘Khaali Peeli’ opposite Dhadak actor Ishaan Khattar has recently opened up about being body-shamed.
In an interview with a source named Bollywood Bubble, the Pati Patni aur Woh actress said that people used to say that she looked like a boy and often addressed her with words like ‘flat-screen’, in a reference to her ‘assets’. Panday expressed how these mean comments and nasty remarks led her to doubt herself once.
Chunky Panday and Bhavna Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday was in the media limelight even before setting her foot in the entertainment industry. In her recent interview, she also opened up and revealed the first time she began getting trolled and the effect that it had on her.
“I don’t remember the exact time but I remember there used to be pictures of me with my parents. At that time, I wasn’t an actor. I would go out with my parents and as I said, I was very thin. People used to say I look like a boy, a flatscreen and all those kinds of things,” Ananya told in a video interview.
“At that time, it did hurt because those are the times when you are forming your self-confidence and you are learning to love yourself. And then, when you feel like someone else is pulling you down, you start doubting yourself, the way you look, and everything. But I feel like now, slowly, I am reaching a point where I am just focussing on accepting myself.”
“If that is sorted and that is my foundation then nothing can hurt me since I am at peace with myself and I love myself. I am not saying it has happened. It is an ongoing process but I feel this realisation is more important than what anyone else says.” She further added.
There won’t be many who know that in 2019, Ananya had launched an initiative ‘So Positive’ in order to tackle cyberbullying.
Coming to the professional front, she will be next seen in Shakun Batra’s next alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi & Deepika Padukone. She also has ‘Liger’ in the pipeline opposite Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda.
