Pagalpanti’s ‘Tum Par Hum Hai Atke’: John Abraham-Ileana D’Cruz’s Failed Attempt At Recreating History

Salman Khan-Kajol’s audio single ‘Tum Par Hum Hai Atke’ from Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya has been reprised by John Abraham & Ileana D’Cruz in Pagalpanti, but unfortunately, they’ve failed.

Pagalpanti trailer gave us a glimpse into the much-adored song ‘Tum Par Hum Hai Atke’ and the makers have released it as the 1st song from the movie. This 90s track has a nostalgic feel to it & Anees Bazmee tried to recreate the song by giving it a modern twist, but did he really succeed?

Its modern version has been voiced by Mika Singh and Neha Kakkar. While Tanishk Bagchi gave the music.

Costume designers Anushka Tugnait, Sanam Ratansi, Kshitij Kankaria Shamanaz Parakh Rahil Raja and Himanshi Nijhawan have done a perfect job to ensure that John Abraham and Ileana D’Cruz look those lovers from the modern times.

Ganesh Acharya who choreographed this track’s original version has failed to recreate that magic this time. It seems that he did not get enough time to overhaul the choreography in order to make this song a success again. Instead, he tried to recreate Salman’s magic with John Abraham by giving the latter some hook steps and instead of being a hook, the step appeals only once.

In the original track Ganesh did a fabulous job by including supporting dancers as props  to narrate the hurdles in Salman-Kajol’s love story in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya.

Have a look at both the versions here:

The original track was sung by the Duo: Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamoorthy. A joint production venture of T-Series and Panorama Studios. Pagalpanti has a star cast that includes: Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela, and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles.

It remains to be seen that whether after this 1st appointment filmmakers learn a lesson and apply enough patches to the film in time before the flick arrives at the box office.
