Nawazuddin Siddiqui Isn’t The Bollywood Celebrity Whose Work You Should Criticize

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been a part of some iconic movies & has delivered a lot of memorable performances over these past few years. One such role is that of Ganesh Gaitonde in Sacred Games. He played the role of Gaitonde this year for the 2nd season of the Netflix original series helmed by Anurag Kashyap. But unlike the 1st season, the 2nd season opened to mixed reviews & didn’t live up to the audience expectations. Social media was complaining about its slow pace & diversion from the original plot.

Nawazuddin SiddiquiIn a recent media interaction, Nawaz was asked about the response garnered by the 2nd season of Sacred Games. When the question came about the criticism this season has received, Nawaz didn’t took the question well and replied,

“Who are these people? I only take criticism from people who are of my standard. Today, every second person is there to criticize. Yes, I know the show got a little boring but these people criticizing, do they have knowledge of cinema? I can take criticism when the person has equal or more knowledge of cinema. Won’t listen to any ‘aira gaira nathu gaira’.”

It seemed that a wrong question was put forward to him, that made him totally uncomfortable.

He didn’t stop at that and said,

“People are okay watching vulgar songs and scenes but when it comes to abuses said by a character which goes with its traits, they cannot take it.”

He took a light breath by stating that he won’t be stepping into the shoes of Gaithonde anymore as he is exhausted with the negativity associated with the character.

Despite all that, he will soon be honored at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) with the Lesley Ho Asian Film Talent Award for his performance in Sacred Games on November 23 in a big ceremony. At present, Nawaz is busy with the promotions of his next movie Motichoor Chaknachoor that released this Friday.
