My Next With Akshay Kumar Is A Comic Thriller, Confirms Priyadarshan

Priyadarshan who’s waiting for the Covid situation to improve to shoot the climax of Part 2 of Hungama has confirmed that we will be seeing Akshay Kumar in a comedy next time.

Akshay Kumar

He has made a comeback in Bollywood with Hungama 2, 8 years after his last directorial Rangrezz.

He said:

“It’s my first sequel and like Hera Pheri, Hungama too is a strong brand,” he asserts. The upcoming comedy features Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaaferi and Pranitha Subhash and the director reveals that Paresh plays a husband who is always suspicious of his wife because of the age difference between them. “He thinks that every man is behind her, which leads to a lot of confusion and misunderstanding.”

Speculations are being made that he will helm Hera Pheri 3 with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. He said:

“I am not involved with Hera Pheri 3, I have told the makers that I am not interested. A lot of people think I made Part 2 as well, but that too wasn’t my film.”

He confirmed that another film with Akshay Kumar is in the pipeline. The duo has successfully worked together for films like Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa & De Dana Dan.

“To begin with, I was planning a serious film with Akshay till he pointed out that people would expect a comedy from us. We were to start in December but now it will roll only around September next year. It will be produced by Akshay,” he shares, adding that it’s a comic thriller like Hera Pheri.

He believes that other than Hungama, Hulchul is a film that has the potential to be spun into a franchise, but he wants to wait for the response to Hungama 2 before taking a step forward.

“I am yet to shoot the climax of Hungama as I need around 300 to 400 people. I am waiting for the Covid-19 situation to improve and after it is done, we will decide on the release.”
