Both Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are popular for bringing alive on the silver screen, those happenings in the history of Hindustan, be it British Era of Independent India, that brings to life the patriotic sentiment.
Mission Mangal and Batla House was also a part of a similar act. But they missed having that sync with each other before choosing the release date of their films. And someone was to lose because of this mistake and it was John in the form of low box-office collection as compared to Mission Mangal.
Talking about Akshay Kumar’s ‘Mission Mangal’, it is having a solid run at the box office. Based on India’s Mission to Mars, the film crossed the 100 crore mark just five days into its release. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film has an outnumbering female star cast: Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Sonakshi Sinha, and Kirti Kulhari.
It minted a smashing Rs. 29.16 crore on its premiere day (Thursday). Followed by Rs. 17.28 crore on Friday, Rs. 23.58 crore on Saturday and Rs. 27.54 crore on Sunday.
Mission Mangal passed that crucial Monday test when it made 8.91 crores. The total 5-day box office collections now stand at Rs. 106.47 crores. After Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’, ‘Mission Mangal’ is Akshay Kumar’s fastest film to enter the 100 crore club.
Talking about John Abraham’s ‘Batla House’, that also had an Independence Day premiere. Based on the famous Batla House encounter, it has John playing a cop and Mrunal Thakur as his wife. As per early estimates, the film earned around Rs 6.50 crore on Monday, taking its five-day total to around Rs 54.49 crore.
Batla House is doing good in Northern India, especially in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Both these actors took this competition in good spirits.
In a recent F2F, John congratulated Akshay on ‘Mission Mangal’ and latter reverted with a text that mentioned, “I am happy for you too. It’s time we work together.”
