‘He Was A Guardian Angel’: These were the words that residents of a Maharashtra village used whilst renaming a locality after Irrfan Khan.
Going in details, villagers in Maharastra’s Igatpuri went through a personal loss when the world lost Bollywood’s most revered actor Irrfan Khan and these villagers have now made their minds to pay a tribute to the late actor by renaming the area where his farmhouse stands to Hero-chi-Wadi (neighborhood of a hero, in Marathi).
As per a report in India Today, the villagers loved and were grateful for all that Irrfan had done for them. Irrfan gifted these villagers an ambulance, computers, books, raincoats, sweaters for their kids, and would also send sweets on festivals.
Gorakh Bodke, a member of the Zilla Parishad revealed,
“He was a guardian angel to so many families. He never said no whenever anyone asked for help.”
Irrfan bought his house in Igatpuri a decade ago and when he met these locals, he was firm in his mind about helping them.
Talking about Irrfan’s sudden demise. He was hospitalized with a colon infection and breathed his last in Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital on April 29th. He was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor 2 years ago and took several trips off-shore to undergo treatment.
When it comes to Irrfan’s family dealing with his unexpected demise. His wife Sutapa Sikdar said that the best way to celebrate Irrfan’s life, would be to implement those teachings and evolve and that is what she and Duo’s two sons — Babil and Ayaan — plan to do in the coming future.
Recognizing the overflow of grief from the actor’s fans everywhere, Sutapa said that she needs to be strong and cannot “begin to feel alone” when millions were grieving with her. These were her words,
“I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve.”
