Born as Parthasarthy Srinivasan, Kamal Hasan is not only an actor but also a dancer, screenwriter, director, producer, lyriscist and playback singer. Add to that long list the role of a politician that he has donned upon himself lately. One of the most versatile and talented actors of the Indian film industry, Kamal Hassan is an actor par excellence. A method actor who aims for perfection in anything he portrays, Kamal Hassan has essayed many roles to perfection. A child actor and prodigy he debuted in 1960 with Kalathur Kannamma in Tamil. He has ever since acted in more than 200 films across various languages. His debut film as the lead was the 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal directed by K Balachander.

Apart from these purely Telugu movies that Kamal Hassan has acted in, many of his Tamil and Malayalam movies have been dubbed into Telugu too. His work has won him many accolades including four National Film Awards, nineteen Filmfare awards and Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. He has also won the President’s Gold medal for his role in Kalathur Kannamma. Kamal Haasan was awarded the Kalaimamani award in 1979, the Padma Shri in 1990, the Padma Bhushan in 2014 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Chevalier) in 2016. He has adorned most of his films with brilliant acting skills and got many an audience to tears with his powerful performances.
