2018 was the worst nightmare for all the three Khans of Bollywood. While Salman Khan’s Race 3 came out to be the biggest trolled film of 2018, which collected INR 166.40 crore in its lifetime; Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan was not able to gross more than INR 151.19 crore and was announced to be a box-office holocaust whereas, The king of the Bollywood also failed to impress the audience with Zero, which is claimed the worst of the three. The film Zero collected INR 88.85 crore by now, and the film is struggling to cross even to enter the 100 crore club.
And what’s the most shocking part is that all three khans tossed their coins on the remunerative holidays of Eid, Diwali, and Christmas but suffered from huge failures. As the matter of the fact, this has happened for the first time in over 12 years that none of the Khan has qualified to be in the top three spots of the box-office scorecard. Whereas, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju is the top grossed movie of the year 2018 and collected over INR 342.53 crore at the box-office, which is followed by Ranveer Singh starrer Padmavat and Simmba collecting INR 302.15 core and INR 173.15 crore and counting respectively and grabbed the second and third position after Sanju.
This year turned out to be a tragic one for the Khans and it’s like history is repeating itself, as back in 2006, when Hrithik Roshan’s Dhoom:2, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish snatched the top three positions from the Khans and all three collected INR 81 crore, INR 75 crore and INR 72 crore respectively. In between 2006 and 2018, at minimum one of the Khans has been among the top three positions of the scorecard; and here is a short recap:
Salman Khan grabbed the first spot with Tiger Zinda Hai, earning INR 339.16 crore in its lifetime.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal was at the first position with INR 387.38 crore and Salman Khan’s Sultan came at second, earning INR 300.45 crore.
Salman Khan starres Bajrangi Bhaijan topped the list with INR 320.34 crore followed by his Diwali release of the year 2015, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which was on the second spot, earning 210.16.

This was yet another year to witness Salman Khan’s enormous success with Bodyguard and Ready earning INR 148.86 crore and INR 119.78 crore in the order and claiming first and second spots respectively while Shah Rukh Khan starrer Ra. One came to third with the total earning of INR 114.29 crore.
Salman Khan’s cop drama Dabangg collected an amount of INR 138.88 crore coming at the first position.
It is Aamir Khan who entered the 200 crore-club for the first time in Bollywood with his 3 idiots, collecting INR 202.95 core, and surely secured the first position.
Aamir Khan was also the one who created the 100 crore-club. His film, Ghajini earned a massive amount of INR 114 crore and grabbed the first spot whereas, Shah Rukh Khan’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi secured the second position with its lifetime earning of INR 84 crore.
This is among the best years of Shah Rukh Khan’s film career. His Om Shanti Om delivered a stunning blow with INR 78 crore and was declared the highest-grosser of the year and his Chak De! India, with a total collection of INR 67 crore secured the third position.
Now, it’s 2019, a new year and a new start. The question is will this year bring back the Khans and their lost forms? Or there are many more challenges waiting for them? Let’s wait and watch!
