Karan Johar has officially announced his upcoming film ‘Takht’ which would be based on an epic period drama. This film of Karan Johar would be featuring stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in major roles. According to further information, this successful producer and director have revealed to Film Companion in an interview that the film is based on warring brothers. He said,
“It is based in the Mughal era. It’s history. It’s about two warring brothers and it’s based on facts as we know them. Beyond that, it’s too early to say anything.”
The famous director also said that he is very scared to make this film as it would be one of his biggest films till date and he also said that it is a bit like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham for him. He said that this film would be like the ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’ of the Mughal era and it would be even more extreme. He revealed that there is more betrayal in the film and also he says that this epic drama film would be rich in texture.
According to the reports of Indian Express, Karan Johar said,
“Yes, opulence-wise and scale wise it’s my biggest to date. It’s scary and nerve-wracking. I’m scared every minute of the day. The announcement shook me up. I’m really petrified. It’s not the scale. It’s also the relationship dynamics. It’s like the K3G of the Mughal era. But it’s more extreme, there is more betrayal. It has the tropes of court politics. It’s so rich in texture.”
Karan Johar also discussed the actors who are involved in the film and said that he has brought many actors together in this film and said that he would be making full use of each and every actor. He says that all the actors who are acting in the film completely fit into their roles. He assured that he won’t be wasting any actor’s talent in the film and would be giving them the roles which are suitable for them and so he would cast all his actors.
Karan Johar also spoke on his comparison with the legendary director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He praised Sanjay’s work and said that there is no comparison of this successful director. It is for sure that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been the most successful director of the country when it comes to period drama films and he has contributed some really amazing films like ‘Padmaavat’ and ‘Baajirao Mastani’ which have been truly loved by the Bollywood fans and his work has immensely been appreciated in the film industry. Many actors express their desire to work with this director and he has surely been fabulous.
Karan Johar says that he completely love Bhansali’s aesthetic and he states that he is looking forward to finding his own voice through this epic drama film. Karan Johar says,
“I love Sanjay’s aesthetic. The comparison scares me but I hope I can find my own voice.”

He highlighted the importance of writers in his interview and stated that they are one of the most crucial parts of any film and have a major contribution in any film. He said that the filmmakers should always give credits to the writers as they are a very important part of any film and without them, the film cannot be made.
