The Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut said in an interview on Thursday that people from the Film Industry have joined forces against her for just calling them out on “nepotism”. Kangana Ranaut was at a promotional event of the recent release of her movie ‘Manikarnika’, was questioned about what she has to say on lack of support to her during the film’s promotions from the industry.
She replied with full aggression,
“How will it benefit me? I’ve already won 3-4 national awards. At the age of 31, I am a filmmaker. Khud ko hi promote kar le bohot badi baat hai (it would be a big deal if they can promote themselves).” She added, “Is Rani of Jhansi my aunt? She’s as much mine as she’s yours. Then why are these people scared? They are worried just because I spoke on nepotism? They have formed a gang: ‘Why did she speak on nepotism?”.
The Queen star had triggered a debate on nepotism two years ago, while she was on Karan Johar’s talk show, which just started a kind of word-war with the host of the show after she named him the “Torchbearer of nepotism” in the film industry for tossing the star kids.
“They have all gathered together, like a classroom where 59 have ganged up against one, trying to bully one. How will you feel if someone did that? Aren’t they ashamed? Some of them are my grandfather’s age. They are after me. Don’t they feel ashamed that it’s not about me? I don’t even want to work with them and I’ve said that often.”
The actress also said that Manikarnika is a movie for the next era and that was not at all about Kangana. She told to the media person,
“What Bollywood is doing, the planning and plotting, one thing is for sure, earlier I used to call them out for sexism, nepotism or pay disparity, but now I’ll be after them. ‘Inki vaat laga dugi’. I’ll expose each and every one. They have asked for trouble by ganging up against me.”
Alia Bhatt also said that she will apologize to Kangana Ranaut on personal grounds if she is upset with her. The Raazi actor’s reply came out after Kangana growled at her for not supporting her for her recent film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’. In the latest interview, Kangana spoke about how and why some people in the industry, naming Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt, didn’t support her during the release of her film ‘Manikarnika’. while she had put out for the screening of the films like Dangal, Secret Superstar, and Raazi, both Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt flunked to support her during the release of her film.
Responding to a question in an interview, Alia said,
“I hope she doesn’t dislike me and I don’t think she dislikes me. I don’t think I have done anything intentionally to upset her. If I have, I will apologise to her on a personal level.”
Alia, who is presently promoting her upcoming project with Ranveer Singh, Gully Boy, told that she has always admired Kangana.
“But I have always said that I have admired her a lot as an actor and a person. She is very outspoken and it takes courage to be that way. I wasn’t aware of this problem or anything, I was busy with the shooting. So yes, what can I say, I don’t want to upset anybody.” Alia told in an interview on Thursday.
