Okay, Kangana Ranaut is back, not with her film or anything but with another of her statement that is sure to create a stir, that is if anyone except the media, is listening to her. Kangana Ranaut is the outsider that has found and booked a spot for her in Bollywood, and she ain’t going anywhere, anytime soon. She keeps making people realise of her presence with one statement or another and this time, it is about her last outing Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
The movie before the release was surrounded with negative publicity owing to the fallout between the actor and the former director of the film, Krish but as soon as it released and people watched it, it only is being appreciated since. Kangana’s performance in the movie, the getup, the sets, the location, everything is being applauded. In fact, the movie also went on to become a box office stunner with more than 100 crore collection marking Kangana’s third entry into the esteemed club after Krrish 3 and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
During a recent interaction with the media, Kangana openly admitted to expecting a National Award for her work in period historical drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She said,
“I feel there are certain things which if you will not respect, then it is, in turn, disrespectful for that organisation itself.”
She further added,
“So, if I or my film Manikarnika… doesn’t win at National film awards, then it will question credibility of that award ceremony but if I come across other good work then, I will be objective enough to say it’s better than me.”
Kangana also talked about how she loved Tabu’s performance in the last year’s super successful neo-noir mysterious black comedy thriller, Andhadhun, still maintaining that she doesn’t think there will be any better performance than hers in Manikarnika. She was quoted as saying,
“I think last year, Tabu ji gave an amazing performance in Andhadun. I am floored by what she has done. I think in coming year, it will be revealed. If there will be a better performance than Manikarnika, I will definitely appreciate that but I don’t think it will happen.”
It is strange that she has put herself on such a pedestal that she believes she is right, all the time. She may have had her share of struggles, as does everyone and her courage is commendable but one would appreciate if she wouldn’t be so self-centered trying to portray her as the righteous human being, who is ready to take on the industry even when no one is actually attacking her.
Further, she opened up as to where was she missing since the last 10 days and said,
“I am glad to know that my presence was missed. I think media people were affected a lot when I was out of the city. I feel everyone should take their time out for themselves. In our culture, spirituality was something that we actively pursued but today’s generation is not aware of that.”
“They visit life coaches, therapists and psychiatrists for their mental peace but they do not know how to work on their inner well being so, I would like to encourage people to turn towards spirituality. Earlier, I didn’t used to tell anyone but now I talk about it. I feel it helps people to connect them with their inner self. It helps to enhance your stamina, concentration, focus and intellect.”
Anyway, on the work front, she will be seen in Mental Hai Kya next with Rajkummar Rao.
