Facts About Divyendu Sharma: 

Nine years ago, Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama was released. It was not just Kartik Aaryan’s movie, and he is not the only one who got famous after the success of the film. The other two lead actors Nishant and Rayyo were equally good and entertaining. Nishant a.k.a. Divyendu Sharma, proved his talent by acting and experimenting with his roles in various other movies and series. Recently, you saw him on Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur as Munna Bhai. With all these roles, he has proved that he is more than just the ‘Punchnama boy’, and this brings us to the list of 10 unknown facts about the talented and versatile actor Divyendu Sharma.

 1. School 

 Divyendu was an Average student. He was never too interested in studies. He scored 49% on the 10th boards and that made him choose Arts and science as his subjects for the next two years. He scored 84% in 12th which according to him is way more than anticipated. He later completed his graduation in Political science from Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College. 

 2. Acting 

In an interview, Divyendu recalled that as a kid he was fascinated by the idea of acting. He said that he was very active in plays, cultural functions, and extracurricular actives. 

 3. Career 

He was always interested in acting and he used to mimic actors for fun. But later in his career, he became serious about his passion for which he got his elder sister’s support. He moved to Puna and pursued a diploma in acting from FTII. While he was there, he did some ads with top agencies like Virgin Mobile, Fidelity Mutual Funds, Birla Sun Life, etc. 

 4. Theatre  

He started to prepare for his career by being a part of a theatre group called “Players”. He did many plays with them before giving a film audition. 

 5. Struggles

Mirzapur actor said that he faced a lot of rejection in his early days. He even said that during those days, he was not financially stable and just needed 32 rupees per day to satisfy his hunger. 

 6. Before debut 

Before his career’s inception in Bollywood, he appeared in Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film Aaja Nachle. He wasn’t given any attention for his role in the film. But things changed hen he appeared Nishant, a frustrated lover, in a comedy film. 

 7. Debut 

He made his debut in Bollywood with Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama as Liquid. His character was loved by the audiences and even after almost a decade, his characters continue to make people laugh. In an interview, Divyendu even said that fans still call him Liquid over Munna from Mirzapur. 

 8. Bollywood 

From here, his career started to see an upward trend as he got to experiment with his roles in films and series. He appeared in a variety of films that Chashme Baddoor (2013), Ekees Toppon Ki Salaami (2014), Dilliwali Zaalim Girlfriend (2015), Assi Nabbe Poore Sau (2016), Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Batti Gul Meter Chalu in 2018.

Soon after this, his performance impressed Mirzapur creators as in 2018 he was seen performing next to Pankaj Tripathi in the Amazon Prime Series. He appeared in Zee5’s original movie Badnaam Gali and a series called Fatafat and the movie. Last year, he also appeared in Hotstar VIP’s Kanpuriye. All the shows were delightful and his performance was impressive. 

  10. Experimenting 

Mirzapur Actor said that his filmography is proof that he experiments with his and roles and doesn’t exploit äny one genre he is comfortable with. In an interview with times now, he said, I am getting to play different characters, different stories. I never wanted to stick to one genre of films, because, after Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Chashme Baddoor, I could exploit this genre and zone of acting, but since the start, I was very aware of the fact that I have to play different roles and I want to be known for my versatility and people are giving me different characters, so I have nothing to complain.”

Upcoming Films  Apart from Mirzapur season 2, he will appear in two more films this year, Brahmastra and Shukranu.
