1. Adulting by Dice Media
‘Adulting’ as the name suggests is a 2018 Web Series by Dice Media where two girls, in their early 20s, are shown dealing with friendship, with the adult life struggles of maintaining a balance between societal and social media pressure. Also, it is so real that the 5 episodes do not seem enough. The first season is out on YouTube and you can watch it at once. The lead actors Yashaswini Dayama and Aisha Ahmed share great camaraderie on-screen and will surely make you laugh and cry.
2. Sacred Games by Netflix
You probably would have read about the inexplicable writing, direction and acting in the popular Netflix’s original Indian web series ‘Sacred Games’ and if you haven’t already, then you’re living under a rock. Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and ever perfect Nawazuddin Siddiqui, could you have asked for a better cast? Anurag Kashyap, Varun Grover and Vikramaditya Motwane, could you have asked for a better team? It is based on Vikram Chandra’s novel by the same name. Engineering is stereotypically associated with boys. In every other movie, we have just seen engineering colleges from their perspective only. But at ‘The Timeliners’, they seem to differ. This time, they decided to show what it is like for a girl to be in an Engineering college. The 3 leading girls Barkha Singh, Sejal Kumar and Kritika Avasthi became friends during the show and their comfort with each other translates on-screen which makes it even more interesting to watch. 4. The Reunion by Zoom
Once we grow up, get busy with our jobs and the adult life, the most we miss is our school and the days spent there. This web series captures just that when a few students meet at their school for a reunion after 10 years. How their lives and the friendship dynamics have changed since they left school. You will surely relate to one of the characters from the show because it has quite a variety of characters. This ensemble cast show by the Zoom Studios stars Anuj Sachdeva, Shreya Dhanwant, Sapna Pabbi and Vir Rajwant Singh and has 10 episodes in the first season.
5. Yeh Meri Family by TVF
‘The Viral Fever’ popularly known as TVF is back with a new web series this year called ‘Yeh Meri Family’ which brings Mona Singh back in a totally new avatar. TVF excels at making heart touching web series and this time they decided to explore a 12-year-old’s point of view of his family. It is a story of a middle-class family which will definitely be relatable in one sense or another. A small town girl in a big city, Mumbai to chase her dreams? I am sure many would relate to her and her journey. 7. It Happened in Hong Kong by Viu
If you are one for romantic comedies, then ‘It Happened in New York’ is perfect for you. A fresh pairing of Amol Parashar and Ahaana Kumra makes it even more interesting to watch. The two meet in Hong Kong and how their story develops is what the show captures. It is the typical Bollywood cliche rom-com but it’s a light-hearted show to watch with your partner.
