Kangana Ranaut vs Hrithik Roshan is back! Though this time it started with their respective movie clashes, it got personal super soon. Well, don’t get confused. Brace yourselves, drama incoming! First, Hrithik Roshan postponed the release date of his upcoming film Super 30 from January 26 to July 26th, in order to avoid a clash with Kangana’s debut directorial Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. But then, Kangana’s other film, Mental Hai Kya filmmakers announced to release the movie on the same day, that too after being pushed twice.
Now, as expected, the war of words between the two has already begun and it is only getting murkier day by day. Apparently, Hrithik recently made an official announcement clarifying the reason why he is pushing further Super 30’s theatrical release, to avoid another media circus. Though he did not mention Kangana’s name anywhere, it is still redirected to her.
“So as to not allow my film to be desecrated by yet another media circus, I have decided to shift the release date of my film ‘Super 30’ in order to save myself from the personal trauma and toxic mental violence this would cause. Despite the film being ready, I have requested my producers to shift and announce the next suitable date as soon as possible.
“Over the past few years, to utter dismay, I have been witness to a lot of us cheering and encouraging what was/is an open and blatant case of harassment. I must even now, wait patiently and silently for the collective consciousness of society to take cognisance of such matters in order to maintain our faith in civility of our society. This unrelenting helplessness must end,”
The twist therefore here is that when the Mental Hai Kya makers shifted their movie’s release date, it was being said that it was done purposefully to bring in media attention, which obviously was bound to happen. But then producer Ekta Kapoor explained the reason for choosing this certain date. In response to this Ekta’s statement, Kangana now has called Hrithik’s announcement a “sob story”. She said,
“Hrithik Roshan, Madhu Mantena and Ekta Kapoor had collectively decided that Hrithik would push ‘Super 30’s release date and Ekta will bring her film MHK on 26th July. They had taken this call last week itself, I don’t know why he wrote this sob story but I am glad MHK (is) getting a solo release, I salute my producer Ekta Kapoor for making her way in this male dominated industry, it’s not easy to do what she does… I applaud her courage and power,”
Okay, so now, the latest update says that Kangana’s Mental Hai Kya to finally release on July 26 and Hrithik’s Super 30 still is hanging dry, looking for a suitable date to open to theatres.
