Hema Malini apart from being yesteryear super successful Bollywood superstar, is an active MP from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party aka BJP. She has been a part of the political world since a long time now and will be contesting elections from Mathura Lok Sabha seat this year as well. The new affidavit filed by the poll panel has disclosed her worth which has exponentially risen in the last five years and has made her a billionaire.
In 2014, her assets were worth close to 66 crores and this year after witnessing a whopping 34.46 crore hike have crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark and stand at Rs. 101 crores. Her assets include bungalows, jewellery, cash, shares and term deposits. Her actor-husband Dharmendra assets too grew to a considerable amount i.e Rs. 12.30 crores in the same term, as mentioned by her in the affidavit detailing hers and her spouse’s assets and liabilities.
Along with the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of Indian while filing her Lok Sabha Mathura nomination, she also filed her IT returns for the last five years which goes on to reveal that she and Dharmendra earned Rs. 10 crores each from 2014 to 2019.
In her IT returns, her income is evaluated to be Rs 15.93 lakh in 2013-14 against that of over Rs 1.19 crore in 2017-18. The affidavit shows her income to be Rs 3.12 crore in 2014-15, Rs 1.19 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 4.30 crore in 2016-17.
But, as per the figures on the affidavit, the Dream Girl has earned over 9.87 years in the last five years while her husband, the He-Man of Bollywood has earned about 9.73 crores. Dharmendra is known to be passionate about Vintage cars and so he owns a Range Rover bought in 1965 in just Rs. 7000, and also a Maruti 800 along with an old vintage motorcycle.
Hema Malini owns two cars, one Mercedes bought in 2011 for Rs. 33.62 lakhs and the other Toyota which apparently she bought for Rs. 4.75 lakhs in 2005. Joining her husband in the Billionaire club who is an owner of assets worth Rs.1.23 billion, her assets are worth 1.1 Billion.
Among their liabilities, Hema has a debt of about Rs. 6.75 crores while Dharmendra is in debt of Rs. 7.37 crores. This huge amount majorly consists of a loan which they supposedly took to build their Juhu Vile Parle house in Mumbai.
Before being elected as the Mathura MP in 2014, she was a Rajya Sabha MP twice, from 2003 to 2009 and then from 2011 to 2012. She previously had been a part of several parliamentary committees including External Affairs Ministry, Transport, Tourism, Culture, Women Empowerment, Information and Broadcasting.
