‘Gold’ Movie Review: Akshay Kumar Wins Hearts on Independence Day

Recently, Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Gold’ has been released on the big screen and on the special occasion of Independence day. The stuntman of the Bollywood industry has been a part of many amazing patriotic films and again this time, he brings an amazing film which highlights patriotism. He has surely been a treat to watch on the big screen and again this time he has been phenomenal. The film is also is the debut film of the gorgeous actress, Mouni Roy who has been acting on the small screen for a long time now.


Talking about ‘Gold,’ with Mouni Roy alongside Akshay Kumar, the film also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and others. The film has been directed by Reema Kagti and it will surely going to take you back in the time of pre-independence. It is surely a great film on patriotism and could also be stated as one of the important films in the recent times. The way this sports drama film highlights the unity of the country, it completely wins the hearts of many audiences. Such films are really important in Bollywood and the film succeeds in giving a great message to the Bollywood fans.

Talking more about the film, it is based on real life events but is also moulded to an extent. The film highlights how the free India beats Britain in 1948 Olympics hockey final. The way it shows the bond between India and Pakistan after partition is really touching and you would definitely love it.


India takes a revenge from ‘do sau saal ki ghulami’ after beating Britain in its own country in the year 1948 and so it wins gold. This was the most precious moment in the film and you’ll surely going to get goosebumps when India wins over Britain. There’s a little slow start to the movie and it will take few minutes to settle down in the beginning and then seems to be just amazing. When the film takes some pace, you won’t be able to keep your eyes off the screens.

The debutant Mouni Roy does a great job in her first film and she receives a great response from the Bollywood fans for her amazing acting. Her on screen presence was really good in the film and some of her dialogues would surely stick in your mind. The way she taunts Akshay Kumar in the film has truly been loved by the audiences and the way she says ‘feeeesh’ and then talks about his brain power, it will definitely make you laugh at times during the film. This actress succeeds to put the spice of humor in a correct manner.


The period of pre-independence has been shown beautifully and it has completely succeeded to take the audiences back to that time. The young players in the hockey team do a great job and Sunny Kaushal completely outshines in the film with his brilliant on screen performance. This actor has a great potential and he has completely proved with his amazing performance in this film. With hockey stick he rules on the field and not only the match, but also he wins hearts of the Bollywood fans this time.

Talking about the ratings of the film, it has been rated 3.5/5 by Navbharat Times, 3.5/5 again by Hindustan Times, 2.5/5 by Indian Express and 8.5/10 by IMBD. Akshay Kumar once again proved why he is one of the best actors og the Bollywood industry and once again contributes a great patriotic film to Bollywood on the Independence day. He is a treat to watch in the film in the characyer of ‘Tapan Das’ and once again he rules the big screens with his consistency.
