An FIR has been lodged at Lucknow’s Hazratganj Kotwali against the head of original content at Amazon Prime Video India. Aparna Purohit, director of the web series ‘Tandav’, Ali Abbas Zafar, its producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra and writer Gaurav Solanki among others for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
The Information & Broadcasting Ministry has summoned Amazon Prime Video officials in India in connection with the controversy around this web series Tandav, sources had said this on Sunday. This happened after 2 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders alleged that this Saif Ali Khan-starrer web series Tandav hurts the sentiments of Hindus for their religion.
Ram Kadam, the BJP leader had earlier said that he has filed a complaint at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Police Station against Tandav. BJP leader Manoj Kotak also expressed similar concerns and wrote a letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.
In the letter, Manoj Kotak wrote
“It seems that the makers of Tandav have mocked Hindu gods and disrespected Hindu religious sentiments. I urge the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban Tandav for the meantime.”
He alleged that the series has hurt the sentiments of Hindus & he wouldn’t tolerate this.
Manoj also stated that:
“I also noticed that the makers of the recent web series Tandav, that released on an OTT platform has deliberately mocked Hindu gods and disrespected Hindu religious sentiments. The same feeling has been expressed by many citizens, across the country. I urge the Ministry of I&B to immediately constitute a regulatory authority for OTT platforms and in the meantime, ban controversial web series, Tandav.”
The Saif Ali Khan Starred web series ‘Tandav’ also casts Dimple Kapadia & Mohn Zeeshan Ayyub in the leading roles.
