When it comes to Farhan Akhtar, there is no hat that he hasn’t donned in his career till date. He has done the job of a filmmaker, a producer, an actor, and a singer but 2 years ago, he left everything and decided to go on a sabbatical from active professional life, so as to develop his skills as a musician. Some of his popular songs are: “Rock On!”, “Socha Hai” and “Dil Dhadakne Do”.
In an interview that he gave recently, Farhan said,
“If you don’t respect your work and don’t give that commitment, then it will reflect in your work. So, for me, it was important to put everything aside and take this album to a certain standard.”
Post his last Bollywood release i.e. Lucknow Central, that came in 2017 around 2 years ago, he made a decision to concentrate all his efforts on his debut album, Echoes, that is set to release on 12th April. This sabbatical was much-needed as the development of a music album requires undivided attention. Farhan’s way of working is complete focus on the job and so he did the same with his music album.
Around 4 years ago, in 2015, he felt an urge to pen down his thoughts in the form of poems and songs. His exact words were:
“I came at a point in my journey in 2015-16, when there was a desire to share all of it with the audience. We had been connecting with the audience through music with live concerts and I felt it is lot of fun to do. But to grow as a artiste, it is important to share an album with them.” Three of his songs — “Why It Couldn’t Be Me“, “Seagull”, “Pain Or Pleasure” — from 11-track LP are already out.
It seems that Farhan, being the son of well-known veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, is trailing the path laid by his father.
