A couple of months ago, Farah Khan announced to the world about her first-ever collaboration with the hit filmmaker Rohit Shetty who has given us super-successful comedy franchise Golmaal and his very own cop universe Singham. She took to Twitter to share her excitement about the project. She tweeted:
“What is meant to be will Always find a Way.. excited & Emotional both, to be on this journey with my dearest @itsrohitshetty .. together with the Lov we share for Films , we will create “the Mother of All Entertainers”! #inshallah ..Lov u Rohit @rohitshettypicturez @reliance.entertainment”
The duo is collaborating for a musical remake of a 1982 superhit Satte Pe Satta starring Amitabh Bachchan, Amjad Khan and Hema Malini in the lead roles. Farah Khan, in a recent interview with IANS, was asked whether this movie too, like her most of the directorials, will have Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. To which, she replied by saying,
“I love Shah Rukh. I love working with him. But as of now we first want to do the dialogue draft and everything and then go on to the next step.”
They both have previously worked in three Farah-directed movies, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year. About the development of the script, she added,
“We have finished most of the scripting and have a month more to go and then we will start casting. We are having fun. It’s a full-fledged musical with action in it. It’s my movie and then Rohit’s movie. So, you know what to expect.”
Rohit Shetty would be bankrolling this movie and would also come in to contribute to the action sequences. Commenting further, she said,
“Rohit and I are both extremely excited for the collaboration. We are making a really big, massive Bollywood musical. It’ll be absolutely my kind of a movie. Rohit and I are probably the last two left to make this kind of big and entertaining cinema. The script is almost done, we are just about finishing it. It’s a remake. We have bought the rights of an Indian film and are revamping it currently. Rohit has promised to come and do the action for the film. I’m looking forward to it. Within a month or so, we will know our cast as well,”
Rohit Shetty’s last release was Simmba starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. Here’s the IMDb synopsis of the film:
Simmba, a Corrupt Officer, enjoys all the perks of being an immoral and unethical police officer until a life-changing event forces him to choose the righteous path. Simmba is an orphan from Shivgadh from where our beloved Singham was born and raised. Contrary to the philosophies of Singham, Simmba believes that a Corrupt Officer’s life is an ideal life which inspires him to become one. While Simmba enjoys all the perks of being an immoral and unethical Police Officer, a twist in the tale transforms him and forces him to choose the righteous path.
