Mumbai Saga which will cast John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles is based in the 1980s and 90s. While John will be essaying the role of a gangster, Emraan will be seen as a cop for the first time on the big screen. Emraan’s first look has been unveiled, and he reportedly worked out twice as hard to bulk up for the role.
Hindustan Times quoted a source close to the project,
“When the actor met Sanjay Gupta 2 months back, the director offered him the role of a cop for which he had to bulk up in order to look convincing in front of actors like John Abraham who is known for his physique.”
At that time, Emraan was reportedly shooting for Ezra and was not able to work out for the new project. But with determination and clear instructions to his team, Emraan achieved the physique for Mumbai Saga by working out twice a day and going on a proper diet, in just a month and a half.
Emraan in an interaction with an entertainment portal commented about Mumbai Saga,
“After being an outlaw in so many films, it feels really great to be on the other side of the law. l worked hard on my physique because I knew it was important to acquire of fuller frame for my part.”
Mumbai Saga is helmed and presented by Sanjay Gupta and Bhushan Kumar. The plot of the story talks about how Bombay became Mumbai and the change in power during the time. From politicians & cop conflict, underworld & business fraternity to the murder of a key businessman, all that changed Mumbai’s landscape.
Apart from Emraan Hashmi & John Abraham, the film will also see Kajal Aggarwal, Jackie Shroff & Suniel Shetty in pivotal roles. The film is set to make a silver screen landing on June 19, 2020.
