The Mumbai Police has arrested a Delhi lawyer for spreading false news on social media in the case of the death of actor Sushant Rajput. A police officer said on Friday that the Delhi-based lawyer is accused of presenting false theories like the conspiracy behind the death of Sushant Rajput and Talent Manager Disha Salian. He said that Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested lawyer Vibhor Anand from his Delhi residence on Thursday morning.
According to the FIR filed in this regard in August, Anand has been posting videos on YouTube containing derogatory statements and allegations against Maharashtra minister Aditya Thackeray. In these videos, Anand has linked Thackeray to the death of Sushant and Disha.
Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), said, after investigation, the police arrested the accused. Anand has been arrested under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act besides defamation. He was produced in court on Friday, from where he was remanded to police custody till October 19.
According to the sources, Anand was arrested after actor & producer Arbaaz Khan lodged a complaint with the cyber cell. Arbaaz had also filed a case in a civil court in the city and the court had directed Vibhor Anand, Sakshi Bhandari & some other unknown defendants to withdraw, recall or take down the defamatory content that hey has published directly or indirectly.
Apart from this, on Thursday, the NCB raided the drug case related to Sushant case and arrested a drug peddler from Mumbai. NCB officials have arrested a drug peddler named Jai Madhok who lives in the Santa Cruz area of Mumbai.
The man is accused of using and supplying drugs. NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede said that Madhok is a distributor of cocaine as well as hash. According to the NCB, several drug peddlers arrested took the name of Jai Madhok during interrogation.
