Bollywood Couple: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are at the top of their game in the Hindi film industry right now. This fan-favourite couple has acted in four films till date, and right now they are filming their fifth one together i.e. ’83. Directed by Kabir Khan, ’83 is a Biopic based on former Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev, and how he led the team to victory in the 1983 World Cup.
As we all know that Ranveer Singh will be essaying the role of Kapil Dev, whereas Deepika will portray the latter’s wife, Romi Bhatia. But there is something interesting to hear in all this, when Ranveer was first signed for the movie, the makers had not yet decided on whom to cast to play his on-screen wife.
His spouse: Deepika just revealed that when she was signed to play that role, she wasn’t the one who broke the news to Ranveer. It was director Kabir Khan who told Ranveer.
During a F2F with Pinkvilla, Deepika shared,
“Because he was in the movie [already] as an actor, I felt like he needed to hear from the director that I was his co-star.”
She added that what appealed to her to be part of the movie and the character in particular, was she had to play a on-screen wife to her real life husband. And she wanted to tell the story of
“the sacrifices that a wife or family needs to make to enable [an] athlete to achieve his goals.”
Deepika herself has had a first-hand experience in this with her family. As her father: Prakash Padukone is a professional badminton player and mother a housewife.
’83 is scheduled for an April 10, 2020 release.
Talking about Deepika and Ranveer, both these actors don’t have a family background when it comes to acting. Deepika belongs to a family that has made its name in Badminton, while Hubby: Ranveer belongs to a family that has a business background.
